12. Infantry Division was formed in May 1944 and sent to the Screening Front, facing Turkey. Consisted of 31st, 32nd, 46th Infantry regiments, 12th divisional arty regiment,  12th engineer, 12th communication, 12th anti-tank, 12th rear battalions. On 15 September 1944 transfered west to the newly formed 2. Army. Fought in the first phase of the war against the Axis in 1944 reaching Kosovo. On 11 November 1944 transfered to Leskovac and included in 1. Army. Fought in the second phase of the war against the Axis reaching Austria in 1945.

   Formed and disbanded several times.
