Date of formation unknown. Vareš is located 45 km NNW of Sarajevo in East Bosnia. Identified in Vareš and the villages nearby in May 1943 with a total of 4 companies. This unit is something of a mystery. It should be mentioned a number of times in the surviving documents and literature, but it isn’t. One possibility is that it only existed for a short time and was then disbanded and its personnel used elsewhere. (1)
