Formed in summer 1941 as one of the first Domdo units. Kladanj is located 40 km south of Tuzla in East Bosnia. It was set up to defend the town and the surrounding area from Chetnik attacks. (1)


Operational History

7 Apr 42: its 6th and 7th Co. were patrolling in the area between Tuzla and Kladanj under the tactical authority of Gendarmerie Wing Tuzla/5th Gendarmerie Regiment.
14 Aug 42: the Battalion fought a brief skirmish with elements of the 6th East Bosnian NOU Brigade near Kladanj this date.
14 Apr 43: Bn. HQ, 1st and 3d Co. in Kladanj, and 2d Co. in Milankovići. Under Croatian II Corps for administrative purposes and the German 369. Inf.Div. (kroat.) for tactical purposes.
Jun 43: Bn. had about 500 men, all of whom were Moslem. Renamed V Bn./Tuzla Brigade this month.
