Together with the Expeditionary Regiment and Battalions, these were established on an improvised basis during the first several months of the new Croatian state. The personnel were mainly demobilized soldiers of the Royal Yugoslav Army that had just been defeated and Croatian reservists who volunteered to serve their country. There was little order and uniformity to these garrison formations and little for them to do since the NDH (Independent State of Croatia) was relatively peaceful during May and June 1941. Accordingly, not much can be said about them. (1)
