(4. novačka pukovnija)
by H.L. deZeng IV
Said to have been formed 1942 with HQ in Varaždin and comprised three battalions (I – III). A IV Battalion were formed later. One of the four recruit regiments that were formed beginning in January 1942 and used to train the men called up in the fall of 1941 for the purpose of forming the four mountain brigades. Little information has been found concerning this regiment and it may have been little more than a “paper” formation. There is some evidence that suggests it may not have even been formed until October 1942, and after elements of the Regiment were identified in action against the Partisans southwest of Koprivnica in December it is not again mentioned. If it existed at all, it appears its assets were quickly taken away to replenish other units. (1)
