Formed September - October 1942 with Regiment HQ in Bjelovar. It remained subordinated to Croatian I Corps throughout its existence. (1)


History

Dec 42: the Regiment’s 1st Mining Co. (1. rudarska satnija) was located in Varaždin and IV Bn. was located in the Zagreb area with 2d Co. in Velika Gorica/11 km SE of Zagreb and 3d Co. in Sesvete.
Jan 43: 1st Mining Co. transferred and now in Kreka/7 km E of Tuzla in East Bosnia.
25 Apr 43: 2d Co./I Bn. was attacked by partisans at Turopolje/18 km NW of Sisak and disarmed. Half or more of the company (60 men) then promptly defected to the partisans.
May 43: Regiment reported a total of 1,780 men on strength.
May 44: III Bn. in Velika Gorica.
Aug 44: I Bn. in Velika Gorica, II Bn. in Podsused/11 km W of Zagreb, III Bn. in Pleso/11 km SE of Zagreb, IV Bn. at Pleso, Replacement Bn. and 1st Mining Co. not located (if still in existence). The I, III and IV Battalions were all working on airfield construction, Velica Gorica and Pleso eventually being the two largest Luftwaffe airfields in Croatia.
Sep 44 – May 45: no information on the Regiment after August 1944 has been found.
