Formed February 1944 with HQ in Sarajevo by incorporating and expanding recruit and replacement units located in the III Territorial Corps area. Unlike the other two replacement brigades, this did not have a replacement regiment subordinated to it. (1)


Operational History

Brigade concerned with replacement and training activities and had little contact with enemy forces.
1 Dec 44: Brigade ordered to depart Sarajevo for transfer to Sesvete on the outskirts of Zagreb where is was to be renamed 23d Infantry Replacement Brigade. Strength on departure was estimated to be 160 officers and 2,750 NCOs and men.
