Formed 24 April 1941 with HQ in Banja Luka for western Bosnia and Lika. Initial composition included the Sisak, Banja Luka, Otočac and Bihać Infantty Regiments. Following the general reorganization of regiments on 29 June 1941, its new composition included the 10th, 11th and 12th Infantry Regiments.
Renamed 2d Infantry Division around 1 August 1941.
