1. Ustasha Regiment (1. Ustaška pukovnija)
by H.L. deZeng IV
Formed April 1941 in Zagreb shortly after the Independent State of Croatia was proclaimed on 10 April. It was composed of Ustasha returnees (from Italy, Germany, Hungary, etc.), many of whom were then sent out to all parts of Croatia where they were instrumental in raising Ustasha formations and strengthening local Ustasha organizations. Others assigned to the Regiment were retained in Zagreb for general staff positions while yet others became unit commanders as new Ustasha detachments and companies came into being.
Commanders
Ust. Pukovnik Tomislav Sertić (Apr 1941 - ?)
