The Sturm-Mörser-Kompanie 1000 was formed on 13 August 1944 to be equipped with Sturmtigers, a self propelled armored mortar built on Tiger I chassi. It was equipped with two Sturmtigers, one of them a prototype, when it was used to combat the Warsaw Uprising where it had considerable success destroying buildings occupied by the insurgents.
In late August a platoon was sent to the Western Front to support Panzer-Brigade 109. On 22 October the platoons of the company were ordered to Sennelager for training and refitting. It was assigned to 6. Panzer-Armee for the Ardennes offensive.
It was transferred to the artillery and redesignated Sturm-Mörser-Batterie 1000 on 23 January 1945.

In some sources it is listed as Sturmtiger-Kompanie 1000.
