The 233. Panzer-Division was formed in April 1943 from 233. Panzergrenadier-Division and was redesignated 233. Reserve-Panzer-Division in August 1943.

It was reformed in April 1945 from 233. Reserve-Panzer-Division and remained in in Jutland until the end of the war.
