The 176. Infanterie-Division was formed from Division Nr. 176 in November 1944. It fought on the Western front as a part of Heeresgruppe B, taking part in the battle of Maastricht against the British forces as well as against the relief forces bound for Arnhem. It later fought against units of the US 9th Army along the Siegfried Line.
After some refitting it once again saw action against the US forces, ending the war in the Ruhr pocket.
