The Infanterie-Division Wahn was formed 27 January 1944 at Truppenübungsplatz Wahn as a Schatten-Division (Shadow-Division, used to reinforce other units or to be upgraded into a normal division) from 182. Reserve-Division and other smaller units.
It was used to reform 331. Infanterie-Division in March and in July the staff was used to strengthen 70. Infanterie-Division.
