The LXVI Reservekorps was formed in September 1942 and was sent to southern France, the former Vichy France, after the invasion in November 1942. The HQ was in Royat suburbs of Clermont Ferrand and the area of operations was the Massif Central as nearly all the south east was in the Italian Occupation Zone. It was redesignated LXVI Armeekorps on 5 August 1944.
