The Deutsch-Italienische Panzerarmee was formed on 1 October 1942 by the redesignation of Panzerarmee Afrika. It was defeated at the Second Battle of El Alamein and pushed back to Tunisia by the British offensive. Along with the Organisationsstab Tunesien, the Deutsch-Italienische Panzerarmee formed Heeresgruppe Afrika on 22 February 1943.
