Wehrkreis Generalgouvernement was established per 15 July 1942 in the German occupied Poland. When the Eastern front reached the territory of the Generalgouvernement and it was to become battle zone in 1944 the headquarter was renamed Befehlshaber im Heeresgebiet Generalgouvernement on 22 September 1944.
