Comments

It is unclear whether any where awarded during the war. At least one photo of it being worn by Generalmajor Joachim von Siegroth exists but that is believed to be a one-off example.

It was also planned as a traditions award for members of the VI. Schule für Fahnenjunker der Infanterie (VI. Training School for Infantry Officer Canditates) as staff and students from that school took part in the fighting at Metz.
