The SS-Polizei-Regiment Brixen was formed in October 1944 in Italy when men of the Süd-Tiroler Ordnungsdienst were drafted into this unit. Many of the men in this unit refused to take an oath to Hitler and the unit apparently had an agreement with the partisans to not attack each other.

It was absorbed by 31. SS-Freiwilligen-Grenadier-Division to make up for losses in the fighting against the Red Army and saw service in Silesia until the end of the war.
