The 159. Reserve-Division was formed in October 1942 from Division Nr. 159. It was stationed in France and took part in the occupation of Vichy France. Early in 1944 it was stationed in southwestern France and after the Allied landings it withdrew with heavy losses. It was redesignated 159. Infanterie-Division in October 1944.
