The 118. Jäger-Division was formed on 1 April 1943 by the reorganization and redesignation of the 718. Infanterie-Division. It fought partisans in Bosnia and was sent to the Dalmatian coast in the summer of 1944 to guard against possible Allied landings. It fought on the Eastern Front during the final months of the war and surrendered to the British near Klagenfurt in Austria.

This unit took part in anti-partisan operations in Croatia.
