The 275. Infanterie-Division was formed in late 1943 from remnants of 223. Infanterie-Division. It took part in the fighting in Normandy following the Allied invasion, it took heavy losses in the Falaise pocket and was transferred to Aachen for refitting. It suffered severe losses in the fighting in the Düren - Hürtgenwald area and was disbanded, the remnants being absorbed by 344. Infanterie-Division.

It was reformed in January 1945 taking part in the fighting retreat towards Berlin before being destroyed in the Halbe pocket in April 1945.
