339. Infanterie-Division

The 339. Infanterie-Division was formed in Thuringia in December 1940 as part of the 14. Welle (wave). It was disbanded in November 1943 after suffering heavy losses on the Eastern Front. The remnants formed Divisions-Gruppe 339 which was assigned to Korps-Abteilung C.
Known war crimes
Soldiers of Infanterie-Regiment 691 took part in the shooting of Jews of Krutscha near Smolensk in October 1941. Three soldiers of the regiment were put on trial for this crime post-war. (1)Commanders
