The Infanterie-Division Wildflecken was formed on 17 April 1944 at Truppenübungsplatz Wildflecken as a Schatten-Division (Shadow-Division, used to reinforce other units or to be upgraded into a normal division). It was used to strengthen 715. Infanterie-Division in July 1944 in June the staff was used for form the staff of 232. Infanterie-Division.
