The Infanterie-Division Demba was formed in January 1944 on Trüppenübungsplatz Demba as a Schatten-Division (Shadow-Division, used to reinforce other units or to be upgraded into a normal division) from
141. Reserve-Division. The formation was cancelled in February when the manpower from
141. Reserve-Division was instead used to form
68. Infanterie-Division.
The staff was used in the reformation of
64. Infanterie-Division in June 1944.
